1) How often do I need to come to see you?

Most people schedule anywhere between 1 and 8 sessions, depending on the issues you're experiencing and how much support you feel you need.

If you are simply looking for helpful hints to help make your project run more smoothly, then fewer sessions are necessary. If you want to look deeper into the relationships involved and you want a better understanding of the "emotional trappings" that can be associated with renovating your home, then more sessions can be scheduled.

It is entirely up to you!

2) Does my insurance company cover the cost of Solutions Counseling from Home Remodeling?

This depends on the policies of your insurance provider.

Most people opt to pay for my services out of pocket, but I am happy to discuss your insurance provider's requirements and work with them if possible.

3) How much does Solutions Counseling for Home Remodeling cost?

My fees are:

Regular 1-1/2 Hour Session: $95.00
(Monday - Thursday, 9:00am - 3:00pm)

Prime-Time 1-1/2 Hour Session: $125.00
(Monday - Thursday, 3:00pm - 8:00pm)

Weekend 1-1/2 Hour Session: $175.00
(Friday - Sunday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm)

4) Do I schedule a session for myself, or should I bring my spouse or contractor as well?

I work with individuals, couples, and contractors.

If you schedule the first session for yourself, then decide you want to bring in your spouse to work on some of the marital issues that come up, that can be arranged as well.

If and when a contractor is brought into a session, I usually request that all homeowners involved (husband/wife, joint tenants, etc.) attend the session so that all the "players" are present to respond to issues that relate to them.

5) What if I have legal issues with my contractor?

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and work only with relationship issues, not legal issues. I can help you identify your triggers and look at the relationship with your contractor as you move forward with any legal issues you have, but I cannot give you any legal advice.

6) Do you ever hold sessions at the renovation job site?

I prefer to meet in my office for sessions because it is neutral ground for everyone. I am willing to come out to a work site to help facilitate a difficult conversation, but I find it more effective to bring everyone into the confidential surroundings of my office.

7) Do we bring our blue prints to our meetings with you?

It is entirely up to you. Some people prefer to bring their plans into our sessions because it helps them remember the elements of their project they want to talk about. However, I do not need to have the plans in our sessions together to make our work together productive and successful.
